What Fits in a 15-Yard Dumpster

The 15-yard holds about six pickup truck loads. It covers a full-room remodel, pulling the carpet and flooring out of a house, a shed's worth of accumulated stuff, or the seasonal cleanout that starts in one room and spreads to three. Two tons of disposal come included, which handles most household loads without touching the overage rate.

16 × 8 × 5 ft · 2 tons included · painted max fill line on every dumpster

15-Yard Dumpster Dimensions and Loading

The 15-yard measures 16 feet long by 8 feet wide with 5-foot walls, the same footprint as our 20-yard but a foot shorter in the sides. It fits on a standard driveway with the length of a pickup to spare. Every dumpster carries a painted max fill line, so you know exactly how high you can load before the truck can't legally haul it.

15-Yard Dumpster Price in Raleigh, NC

The 15-yard rents for up to 7 days with two tons included, and the total we quote when you call is the whole price: delivery, pickup, and the dump fee are all inside it. Extra days run at a flat daily rate, extra weight bills per ton off the scale ticket.

Flooring, Carpet, and What Two Included Tons Covers

Flooring is the job this can was made for, and it's also where weight catches people out. Carpet and pad pulled out of a whole house is bulky and light: rolled tight and stacked flat it sits well under the fill line and rarely gets near the two included tons. Three-quarter-inch hardwood off that same square footage weighs several times more. Mortar-bed tile beats them both, because you're hauling the mud bed and the backer board along with the tile.

Five-foot walls are the practical middle of our fleet. You can still swing a rolled carpet or a sheet of subfloor over the side without a ladder, which gets harder on a 6-foot wall, and you get two feet more stacking height than the 10-yard. Load the flat heavy material first and lay it down instead of leaning it, then fill the top with the awkward bulky pieces. A dumpster loaded in layers holds noticeably more than a dumpster loaded by tossing.

One thing the 15 doesn't buy you is a smaller footprint. It sits on the same 16 by 8 feet as the 20-yard, so on your driveway the two are interchangeable and neither is easier to place than the other. Wall height is the whole difference, which is why bulky demo leans toward the 20 and heavy-but-compact demo stays on the 15.

Where the 15-yard dumpster wins

  • Two included tons, the most disposal headroom of the weekly rentals
  • Handles a full-room remodel or flooring tear-out in one go
  • Same 16-foot length as the 20 but a foot less wall to lift over

Where it doesn't

  • Five-foot walls are a real lift compared to the 10's three
  • Whole-house cleanouts and roof tear-offs usually want the 20 instead
  • Overkill for a single closet or garage bay

15-Yard Dumpster Questions, Answered

What's the real difference between the 15 and the 20-yard?

Same 16-by-8 footprint. The 15 has 5-foot walls, the 20 has 6-foot walls, and both carry two tons included on the 7-day rental. If your debris is bulky more than heavy, the extra foot of wall on the 20 is usually worth the step up.

What if I fill the 15-yard before I'm done?

Call or text (919) 524-4456 and we'll set up a swap, and we aim to get it there within 24 hours. The second dumpster is its own rental.

Can a mattress go in the 15-yard?

Yes, with a small per-mattress fee. That's what the county transfer stations charge us, passed straight through. Mention how many when you book.

What can't go in the dumpster?

No paint, chemicals, asbestos, or anything hazardous, and no tires, appliances, or electronics. If you've got a stack of appliances to get rid of, ask about a dedicated dumpster when you call.
